What You Focus on Grows

It is our natural instinct to direct our undivided attention to anything that goes wrong in our lives. It quickly becomes all we can see and the urge to deal with it is off the charts. We love fixing problems! It makes us feel in control, it gives us something to do, and each attempt seems to be bringing us one step closer to the stress-free life we so badly want. No wonder we are so eager to put all our efforts into fighting anything that dares to disturb our previously-harmonious life. It seems like the right thing to do!

But this is just an illusion. The reality is that if you are focusing on something that needs fixing, you are only giving it more power to grow stronger and spread into other areas of your life. Remember that, ultimately, everything is energy. The thoughts you generate while dwelling on the problem, attract other similar thoughts and like energy back to you. By doing so, you are essentially asking for more problems. It is counterintuitive, but in order to eliminate problems from your life, you have to take your attention elsewhere. You have to focus on what is good. You have to find something that you can appreciate. By emitting a higher-frequency vibration, you will attract a like vibration back. Think about it for a moment, the only way in which you attracted the “bad” thing in the first place, is by emitting energy that matched it. Once you are no longer at that frequency, the vibration that does not match you anymore (aka the problem) will have no choice but to disappear from your life.

The key is learning to acknowledge that something is going wrong without giving it any of your energy. If you can only accomplish that, you will succeed. Actively fighting things off will never bring you closer to living a problem-free life. Fighting takes a lot of energy and a lot of focus, which translates into attracting a whole lot of lower-frequency vibrations that you don’t need in your life. As I mentioned several times before, knowing that everything we focus on grows, we want to be very selective about what we notice and talk about. It does not matter that you only focus on it because you want to remove it from your life. That is NOT the way. That is NOT the approach you should be taking. What you should be doing instead, is expressing gratitude for everything that is already good in your life. Even if, currently, there’s not that much. You should know by now, that if you focus on the few good things you have in you life right now, they will soon turn into an abundance.

Also, you don’t have to wait for a perfect time to get into a state of gratitude. Paradoxically, the best time to be grateful is when everything is falling apart! Remember that it is your reaction to the problem that will determine your future, and not the problem itself. If you can fill yourself with love and appreciation even during challenging times, you can create a beautiful and harmonious life out of havoc and despair.

By focusing on love and gratitude you draw to yourself the highest-frequency currents that any situation has to offer. You are giving yourself the best chance at eliminating the problem. You will be drawing energy to yourself whether you want it or not. Nothing can stop this from happening. It’s been happening all your life, and it is not going to stop now. But now, you have a choice to make. You can choose what type of energy you want to attract.

When you choose to respond to life’s difficulties with love instead of fear and doubt, you will be marvelled by how quickly all of your problems are disappearing. However, if you fill your heart with negativity, if you choose to see weakness in others, if you choose to focus on their faults and shortcomings, you will draw to yourself the lower frequency energy and you will create a life where anger, dissatisfaction, disappointment or even hatred and pain are your constant companion. It is much harder to choose to see the good side of a bad situation, or virtues and strengths of others, especially of the ones that wronged us, but that’s the only way to make sure that your life if free of those emotions.

Don’t be a fool trying to drive out darkness with darkness, when only light can do that. Gratitude and love is your light.
